WARRINGTON VS FRAMPTON LIVE STREAM (Player)
That's how the two biggest
promoters of British boxing, Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, summed up the
Saturday clash of two pay-per-view programs at the same time.
Spectators can pay £ 19.95 for Sky Sports to see a heavyweight rematch between Dillian White and Derek Chisora, with BT Sport charging the same amount for the Josh Warrington IBF title defense against Carl Frampton.
Some boxing fans reacted angrily, while Hearn and Warren, who never spoke, exchanged words in the media. BBC Sport met with both: how did it happen? Who is losing? And why could not a collision be avoided?
Warren: "Why did this happen?" This is a question for them to answer, it seems incomprehensible, if they had started the program on the specified date, I would not have put my program at the same time, or take it in January, it's silly.
"But these are the customers that matter, they're the ones who buy these events and they can not pay a week of Christmas to pay two, there's no respect for the fans, it's just stupid."
Hearn: "To get the necessary income, you will need Manchester Arena or O2." The only O2 date was December 22, so this collision is inevitable from the point of view of the necessary places for major battles. "
"Sky Sports was happy, we did not think
Warrington-Frampton had a significant impact on our results." If it was a
rematch of Tyson Fury against Deontay Wilder, we could not go on the 22nd, but
we believe we have the best platform and the best product " .
