John Jones is about to return to UFC competitions after he received a very short term from USADA for his unsuccessful UFC 214 drug test. He still had the problem of getting a license from the California Athletic Commission, which oversaw his fight against Daniel Cormier in the past year, and Jones granted him a temporary license with full reinstatement after Jones completed community service.

The CSAC also recommended that, in addition to undergoing the UFC-USADA drug screening test, Jones should also participate in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) program. This will not happen.

There is no additional charge for the lack of registration, since this was a recommendation, and VADA has the word "Volunteer".
Jacobs later told MMA Fighting about the decision.

"It's difficult," said Jacobs. "Speaking denied is the wrong word, there were problems with the proposal, we asked questions and we could not solve them completely."

Unlike USADA, VADA does not administer its own results, but passes the results to the authorization bodies and sports commissions. The WBC boxing authority uses VADA tests throughout the year as part of the Clean Boxing Program.

VADA is led by Dr. Margaret Goodman, former physician of the Nevada Athletic Commission. This is also often confirmed by the controversial Victor Conte, the BALCO scandal.

Jones tested a turinabol for Cormier's rematch at UFC 214, and the bout was reversed with a knockout victory, with the result that John again lost the light heavyweight title. It also did not pass the USADA non-competitive tests before UFC 200, since clomiphene led to a one-year ban.

"Jones vs. Gustafsson 2" will be held on December 29 at the T-Mobile Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be the first fight for any man since 2017, and he will have 205 pounds for the belt free.
