Josh Warrington believes that
his IBF featherweight champion, Karl Frampton, will fight in the final stages
of his fight, because he sees his retirement.
At the final press conference on the eve of the
battle on Saturday at Manchester Arena, Frampton, 31, investigated the Leeds
warrior in relation to the assumptions that Northern Ireland was "on the
hill". The invincible Warrington, 28, rejected the claims and said it was
more a question of mentality than of form.
"I'm not going to go into this fight,
thinking that he finished, I would be a fool." My mentality was such that
this is the best Karl Frampton.
"But he filmed a documentary, and it was
about five minutes when he talked about resigning. He mentioned it many times.
"He is retiring because he had a fight for 10
million pounds sterling, or he no longer wants to be hit in the head, but he
must want to create an inheritance, what he says he wants to do. When you're at
the top of your game, you should not think about it. "
Warrington enters his first title defense after
his sensational victory over Lee Selby on Elland Road in May as the loser of
former world champion Frampton. However, Yorkshire said that thoughts of his
resignation from the Belfast enemy will annoy him.
"It will be subconscious when it comes to the
last rounds, when your hands are full of lactic acid and you've gone through a
physical condition, you're looking for something small that will push you in.
You will not have this anymore."
The fight will be the third for Frampton, as he
lost his world title in 2017, and said on Wednesday it was his chance to
"prove that there was still a lot left." Warrington, however, said
the loss to his opponent would mean the end of his featherweight career.
"The only thing he can do is move up to a
featherweight. If you lose me after underestimating some of my victories, it
will be embarrassing. I think this will be the time for your pipe and sneakers.
