In other words, it is a film that simply stops being an exciting, where the final sequence - the most superficial weapon, which can be imagined in which the main character becomes the least interesting character.
The Valerian is based on the French comic of Valerian and Laurelin, with the adventures of the titular duo, who wander the depths of the cosmos in search of adventures and missions. The series, published from 1967 to 2010, is considered the cornerstone of French comics, although it is less well known in the United States. (It has much more popular Tintin tones, and eventually became a big budget movie in 2010).
By creating a screenplay for the film, Besson was able to simply jump over many of the basic ideas of comics, one of which is a complex intersection of bit blast, Pei Pei and Space Opera and the big issues of ethical behavior. Valerian - is, in fact, the film deals with how diplomacy and problems with less interesting discussion than cinematographically great space battle, but also essential for the survival of intelligent life in the universe.
This idea, for the first time in the prologue, in which Besson spans approximately 250 years of history - a series of reductions in time to fall into for decades.
